More Dude Murdering Awaits in Painkiller: Redemption - UPDATED
Just when you thought information technology was safe to go back into Purgatory, JoWooD announces Painkiller: Redemption, the latest accession to the increasingly-large Painkiller family that finally sees the return of Heaven's original shoote.
Here's a flake of brutal honesty: all new improver to the Painkiller enfranchisement has been substantially crappier than the uncomparable before it. The original 2004 torpedo from Polish studio apartment People Pot Fly was brilliant, the Battle Out of Hell expansion was unobjectionable just relatively flat, Overdose was just plain hopeless and the less said about Resurrection, the bettor.
But that's not going to keep beleaguered publisher JoWooD from trying to rediscover the magic yet again with Pain pil: Redemption, which will see Daniel Collect, the original Pain pil, team with the half-angel, uncomplete-demon Belial from Overdose to bring an end to the wars between Promised land and Hell once and for each.
"The newest appurtenance brings the Painkiller franchise back to its roots. Breathtaking action, thousands of monsters and exotic weapons are a solid foundation for a Analgesic game!" said JoWooD's Reinhard Pollice. "With Pain pil: Redemption we deport six original, thrilling levels for an unbeatable price!"
Sadly, he unnoticed to mention what that price wish be, but did reveal that Redemption will offer seven to tenner hours of gameplay with built graphics, ameliorate AI, "detailed atmosphere" and more than 6000 dudes to polish off. Unlockable tarot card cards wish urinate a repay, as will the power to accumulate souls, turn into an invulnerable topnotch-demon and pour down everything you see plainly by giving it the stink-optic.
Information technology sounds like all the necessary Painkiller elements are in place but as history has shown, coming upwards with a really good, balls-out FPS is a shell out harder than IT looks. Will JoWooD finally be able to pull information technology off? Stay tuned!
UPDATE: Thanks for staying tuned, because we fair-minded got the lowdown straight from JoWooD. Painkiller: Redemption is the debut project from a Refine team calling itself Eggtooth and does as a matter of fact use an improved version of the original Painkiller locomotive engine, with the same enemies and weapon models as the first spunky.
"Because it is an improver, Painkiller: Redemption is non to be incorrect as a large new game," said JoWooD's Clemens Schneidhofer. Nonetheless, he added, "It will be a solid plot for Painkiller fans!"
As befits an expansion to a six-year-old game, it will also be fairly cheap, with a suggested price chase of $4.99. That's not fearful for another ten hours of painkillin'. Painkiller: Redemption comes forbidden on Feb 14th on all the integer distribution big boys, including Steam, GamersGate, Direct2Drive and Impulse.
